“Eighth graders will make fun of you, but in an accurate way. They will get to the thing that you don’t like about you. They will be like:”
Fight with me
Tell me I’m wrong
Find all my flaws
Let your anger out on me
After everything is said and done
Fall into my arms
Tell me you’re in love
Find all your words with me
Let your fingers intertwine with mine like reaching vines
After everything is said and done let your eyes meet mine
Fall asleep with me
A heart heavy from past love
To yearn for a love that never was
Your essence expelled by your lungs
To breathe them in to make you whole
For their being lifts your spirits
But if only they saw through your eyes
They could see your raw flesh exposed
Your bones shake to their touch
Their kiss
Their bite
Of your young lip
Could take a single drop of blood
Pure of sin and full of life
But they will never understand
For they hold your heart in their palm
And can mute the beat
Or pump the blood through those veins
For your body is no longer your own
To yearn for a love that wishes to breathe existence
A heart heavy from past love
We live in a world of believers
Believers who live for faith and live for facts
Facts and faith attempt to tear each other apart
A part from the wars waged on different views on life
Life has a way of give us reasons to hate and to love
Love does not follow any rules
Rules don’t provide sustenance to love
Love is what it is both fact and faith
I once climbed to the top of a hill
And met an old man who’s wisdom could kill
He spoke of a tale of a younger day
On his travels in spring nights of may
Elderly but so alive spoke of his long life
But had one special story about his wife
He told me he met her on one rainy night
That he tip his fedora and drove her to her flight
Her car had broke on the side of the road
To which she said thank you and a heavenly kiss bestowed
He knew she was special from then on
As the weeks followed he tended to in his lawn
To take her the one perfect flower
A kiss at the front door so sweet it lasted an hour
Days turned into months and one day he pulled out a ring
On the top of this very hill on a midnight in spring
For the first time in his life he felt so in love
They traveled the world from below to above
Had so much love to give 2 children were born
They all grew together and their love never torn
Together they knew nothing could tear them apart
But on the day of her passing it broke his happy heart
He told me that a love so true is a rare find
And to always embrace her because true love is blind
Tell me a story
Of how it all started
How the fruits grew in your garden
Tell me when the fires started
And you knew
You weren’t guarded
Sing to me
The highest notes
Then drown me
In your sorrows most
Tie it up
And lay it down
In the place it once was found
